The Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District has an active Public Education program, managed by the Fire Prevention Division. Activities include presentations in the schools, informational booths at community events and educational articles in the local newspaper. Some upcoming activities include the creation of a Citizen Corp Council that would have Disaster Planning and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) subcommittees. This is made possible with a State Office of Emergency Services Grant through the County Operational Area, County Office of Emergency Services.
